The shoe company with the distinct title “PYRGOS” was founded in 1967 by Dimitrios Skoumpris in Thessaloniki beginning with the production of handmade army boots and mens’ shoes. The fourty four (44) year old course of the company in the production of army boots and shoes and its’ continuous evolving has estab¬lished the name “PYRGOS” in the army boots industry. Knowledge, experience and expertise of our company covers the full range of the production in army boots and shoes in the Public Sector as well as in the Private market.
With all the above principals in mind the company is transferred in 1979 in Xanthi in new private premises of 20.000 sq.m expansion and 2.000 sq.m. housed space where for the first time begins with the vulcanization method the production of army boots and shoes for the needs of the Greek Armed Forces. The production of the army boots is done with the vulcanization of rubber which is the most complete and contemporary method of manufacturing outsole for army boots assuring this way opti¬mum qualities. Caoutchouc is a natural product that derives from tropical plants (caoutchouc trees). With vulcanization occurs a special blending of sulfur compound and other chemical sub¬stances in various heating degrees. In this way caoutchouc has the ability not to harden with cooling, not to melt with heating.
